Au Revoir! Detonate is on his way

DETONATE (FR) leaves for France tonight guided by Chris Jones and Amy Chamberlain. He runs on Thursday night (19.20) at Moulins in a 2400m flat race for 3yo colts and geldings only who are AQPS-bred.

The race is worth €9,000 to the winner plus owners’ premiums. There are six runners and Moulins is a galloping righthanded track where they look after it especially well and the ground is currently good to soft.

We have targeted this type of race since we bought “Al” at the Goffs UK Sale at Doncaster a year ago. We have trained him like a French bumper horse – so I hope that he will look no different to his competitors. We trained his half-sister Burma to win her bumper at Seiches-sur-Loir in February 2015 and I feel this horse has equal talent and, hopefully, more scope for the future.

Whenever a horse leaves the yard to race further away from home than Warwick, there are more logistical arrangements to make and more imponderables to overcome. The only way to gain knowledge and seek out an advantage is to explore new races and opportunities. As you can see he will not lack for luggage and is not restricted to cabin bags!

Let’s hope we have the right horse for this new adventure.
