We completed the building of an equine swimming pool in October 2000 and we are thrilled to have such a fantastic facility. At this time of year, every horse that is exercised has a swim after he has worked and you can just imagine what a benefit that is through the hot weather. Obviously its most important use is to exercise those horses that for whatever reason are unable to be cantered that day. |

These reasons might include sore shins, little splints, bruised feet - all sorts of little irritations. By using the pool we lose less time through these sorts of delays. You are unable to get a horse fit by solely swimming him but it is a tremendous extra exercise particular for the heavy topped horses who have had tendon injuries in the past. I am sure that we do a better job now that we have the swimming pool and a wonderful thing for our owners is that we do not charge for its use! |
